Hackensack Chiropractors Helps Patients Heal After Auto Accidents

An auto accident injury is a traumatic event for your spinal system. Even if you walk away with just a few bruises, you may have sustained serious spinal damage to the cervical and lumbar spine. Often symptoms of this damage - in the form of chronic back pain, neck pain and headaches - may not be obvious until weeks or months after the crash. In addition the amount of injury to the driver and/or passengers does not correlate with the amount of damage to the vehicle. This is why a substantial number of injuries are reported in crashes with little or no property damage. At Advanced Health Center, PC, we are committed to helping patients recover from personal injuries sustained in a car accident. Our whole-body approach to healing relieves pain and restores alignment to your musculoskeletal system which takes pressure off the injured structure and allows for healing to take place.

Hackensack Chiropractic Treatments Relieve Pain, Heal Personal Injuries

A car accident injury may be the result of a frontal impact, side impact or being hit from behind. The type of impact affects the type of spinal injury you may sustain. In frontal impacts, drivers and passengers are typically injured by striking a part of the car's interior. When the car comes to an abrupt stop, your body will continue moving forward. According to Newtonian physics, your body is an "object in motion," and as such, it will continue moving forward until it hits something that stops this forward movement. Even with a seatbelt on, the force of impact between your body and the front of the car may cause whiplash, serious injuries to internal organs, rib fractures and spinal dislocation.

A side impact crash is especially dangerous because most cars offer little protection to drivers and passengers, other than the car door. Lower back injuries are common because the seatbelt, while an important safety restraint, also prevents the pelvis from naturally responding to the force of impact. It is common to suffer from a herniated disc in the lower back. In a rear impact crash, hyperextension to the cervical spine typically occurs during whiplash, leading to neck pain and headaches. Accident victims may also experience lower back pain from a herniated disc.

neck pain, back pain, whiplashAt Advanced Health Center PC in Hackensack, Dr. Angel Carrion and Dr. Lisa Noto, are dedicated to helping individuals suffering from personal injuries sustained in an auto accident take back their lives. Following an auto accident, you may experience chronic neck pain, low back pain or headaches. While prescription painkillers can temporarily relieve this pain, medication cannot correct the underlying cause. For example, if you suffer a herniated disc in a car accident, the disc may put pressure on nearby nerves, causing pain. The only way to permanently stop this pain is to restore the disc to proper alignment so it no longer compresses the nerve. A skilled chiropractor, like Dr. Carrion and Dr. Noto, will use chiropractic adjustments and non-surgical spinal decompression treatments to restore alignment to your spine.

As we age, our spinal system becomes weaker and less flexible. Because of this, older drivers may sustain more damage and have a more difficult time healing from personal injuries caused by car accidents. Dr. Carrion and Dr. Noto are experienced helping residents of  Hackensack and the greater Bergen County region. seniors manage pain with safe, non-invasive treatments that restore a full range of motion and flexibility to the body. Many of our senior clients report being more active following chiropractic care than they have in years!
